Serving Soup Into 2018

Our soup bus is back on the road, reading to serve across the south of the country throughout the winter and into 2018!

After a short patch off the road due to a few mechanical mishaps, we’re raring to go once more, on our mission to feed the hungry and raise money for good causes at the same time.

If you see us around, please jump aboard. We’re always ready to hand out a warm bowl or mug to anyone that wants one, and if you’re lucky enough to have a little change in your pocket, a donation towards our mission will be welcomed as warmly as our soup.

If you’re not one of the lucky ones, don’t worry, the donation is purely optional. We’ll see you very soon.

When We’re Not Around – Morphy Richards To The Rescue!

The most common question we’re asked in the comments of the site or by email is where we are, and when we’ll be in a particular place.

It’s actually a tough question to answer, as we’re spending a lot more time out and about than we are looking at the website or checking our emails. That means we’re often long gone by the time we see messages, even if we were in the area at the time. Most people find their way to the site after seeing us parked up wherever we’re doing our thing. The reason we don’t publicise our plans on the web is that we’ve found we attract people who are literally wanting a free lunch, rather than needing a free lunch.

While we’ve said before we’re happy to help anyone out, we don’t want that to affect our core mission, to help feed those most in need of us.

So, we put our thinking caps on, and came up with a few ideas. Most people that get in touch want to know about our fresh soup, which we think is more than reasonable. After all, if we didn’t like it, we’d change it! From now on, if you see us out and about, or have done in recent weeks, you can pick up a soup recipe sheet so that you can recreate our creations at home. If you want to be truly authentic, you can get yourself one of the same Morphy Richards soup maker machines that we use all the time. It’s not the cheapest on the market, but we really like it. There are lots of other choices of soup maker available too though, which you can buy online or on the high street if you prefer.

All that said, there’s actually nothing to stop you chopping up and blending your ingredients manually and turning to the good old pots and pans on the hob, we just like the speed and automatic nature of these clever electricals.

Most people are surprised that our soups take just a few minutes to prepare – but it has to be that way, as we sometimes get huge amounts of people turning up at the van, so we can’t spend too long preparing each batch!
